No Pen Poetry Day

In order to celebrate National Poetry Day (Thursday 8th October) and No Pens Day (Wednesday 7th October) we decided to have a whole school No Pens Poetry Day on Thursday 8th October!
Throughout the day the children were not able to write. Instead they were given lots of opportunities for discussion and debate as well as challenges and investigations in many subject areas.
They also worked on reciting poetry during their English lessons as this an important part of the New Curriculum for English in every year group.

On Wednesday 14th October the whole school shared their poetry performances in an assembly. It was lovely to hear and see the children reciting poems in small groups and as classes. We hope that the poems that they learnt will stay with them for many years to come!
