The Daily Mile

An initiative that was recently spotted on the news by Mr Goodman, where a school in Scotland had introduced their children to a mile a day. Whether by walking, jogging or running, any child from Nursery all the way to Year 6 were given the opportunity to do The Daily Mile. The outcomes and impact on the children are fantastic – Improving not only the childrens’ fitness, but also their concentration levels, mood, behaviour and general wellbeing.

So why not try it out at Wheatcroft?

As part of their PE lessons, UKS2 mapped out a mile course around the school playground and have started The Daily Mile, either in a PE lesson, in between lessons or at break/lunchtime. They are full of enthusiasm to do it and we’ve already seen the positive impact it can have in the classroom.

There is also an opportunity for any Wheatcroft pupils to do The Daily Mile after school on a Thursday with Mr Goodman. If interested, your child can always join the club.

The Daily Mile is good for us physically and mentally. It makes you stronger and helps you to be used to running anywhere without getting a stitch. The Daily Mile is good mentally too. After coming in from doing the mile we always feel really good about it. It also stimulates our brains.

It makes you physically and mentally stimulated and keeps you healthy and fitter and it’s really fun. It also keeps you active. It improves your running and wakes you up.
