April 2017 in Reception 1

This month we have been learning about our environment, focusing on minibeasts and planting and growing. We started the term by growing our own grass seeds to make them look like people with hair. We put them by the window and have been watering them regularly; we have really enjoyed watching them grow.

This term we have also started Forest school on a Wednesday afternoon. We have been exploring the different areas, looking for minibeasts and creating habitats. Last week, we focused on caterpillars and this week our focus is ladybirds. We learnt about their life cycles and enjoyed representing this through dance during our PE lessons.

In Maths, we had a fantastic time eating smarties!! We emptied our boxes and sorted the smarties into colours. We then made a bar chart of how many of each colour was in our box. We enjoyed seeing who has the most of each colour and comparing our findings with each other.
