June 2017 in Reception 1

We started this month with a visit to the Stick Man Trail in Weald Country Park. Although the weather wasn’t very good, it didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves. We used the wet mud to create faces using natural objects and made leaf kebabs using sticks. We loved visiting the different areas from the story such as a bridge and the family tree and we even got to see some of the characters hidden in the forest.

This month we also started our new topic “travel and transport”. We enjoyed learning about different countries and talking about the similarities and differences between each one compared to England. We learnt about the journey of a banana, how it is picked in Costa Rica and then transported to England via boat.

In Maths we have been working on addition and subtraction and have started using number lines to solve problems.
