February 2018 in Reception 2

We enjoyed taking part in Well Being Week, doing lots of themed activities each day. Monday was Healthy Eating day and we made fruit smoothies. On Tuesday we used litter pickers to clear up some of the rubbish from the lower Forest School area. We enjoyed wearing our sporty clothes on Wednesday and we did lots of physical challenges. On Thursday we started the day with a yoga session and enjoyed thinking of quotes to put on our school well-being tree. We had a visit from a police officer on Friday, who talked about the varied work police offices do.

In Maths, we have been recapping 2D shapes and enjoyed practising drawing 2D shapes with chalk on the big playground. We moved our learning on by comparing 2D and 3D shapes and making models using the small 3D shapes.

In English, we loved listening to the story Supertato and had lots of fun making own Supertato characters. We discussed what super powers we would like to have if we were Superheroes! In phonics we’ve been focusing on learning Phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs and applying our knowledge to our independent writing.
