December 2017 in Reception 1

This half term Reception one have been very busy learning, creating and getting in the Christmas spirit!

In PE this half term we’ve been concentrating on throwing and catching. Firstly, we learnt how to roll the ball to each other on the floor and then gradually stood up and learnt how to throw a ball accurately to a partner. We had help from a special bumpy sensory ball, which we all enjoyed exploring.

We were lucky enough to go to the Hertford Theatre pantomime of ‘Rapunzel’ it was brilliant! The dancing and songs were fantastic and we even got a chance to dance around the audience to ‘500 hundred miles’. Back at school we re-told the story in Litracy and created a puppet show using stick puppets.

This half term we performed ‘A Wriggly Nativity’ in front of the school, family and friends. In the classroom we had the opportunity to recreate the Christmas story

using role play, puppets and stories. After the nativity we wrote present  to Father Christmas and enjoyed exploring his grotto in our classroom.
