December 2017 in Year 1/2

This month we have had some fantastic events. We started the month by decorating the school ready for the Christmas bizarre with our annual decorations day. The children enjoyed swapping classes to work with different year groups and teachers, creating joint displays and getting festive with Christmas crafts.

We performed our play “It’s a party” this month. Although our dress rehearsal to the school was delayed due to the snow, we still managed to put on an excellent show and the staff were very impressed with the children in KS1.

We ended the month with two themed days; “Van Gogh day” and “peppermint cream day”. The children learnt all about Van Gogh and produced some really effective pictures based on the famous “Starry Night” painting. During peppermint cream day, we used our Maths and English skills to write up the recipe and ingredients and create 3D boxes to put our sweets into. We really enjoyed rolling the dough out and creating our peppermints.
