May 2018 in Year 1/2

This month has been a very busy month for us, including the royal wedding. The children loved dressing up in their wedding outfits and Henry and Lucille enjoyed pretending to be Harry and Meghan for the afternoon royal variety show. In the morning, the children created their own coat of arms, decorated biscuits using red, white and blue and made crowns to wear for the picnic.

In Maths, we have been looking at the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We had activities on each table and took it in turns to move around the tables, focusing on one operation at a time. We used a variety of objects to support our learning including mini clocks, money, number beads and multilink cubes. The children found it really helpful and enjoyed working in groups.

In Geography we have been learning about features of a coastline. We invited the parents in to help us create models. We created a cliff edge with a cave, an arch, a stack and a stump and then wrote descriptions about each feature. It was great fun and the parents really helped us! Thank you!
