May 2018 in Year 2

In May we have been enjoying the lovely weather and working outside the classroom.

In Science we have been learning about the different groups animals belong to and learning what carnivores, omnivores and herbivores eat. We went out into the lower forest school to find micro-habitats and used magnifying glasses to look carefully for the different mini-beasts that live in them.

In Art we have also been learning about the natural materials around school and we have been thinking about natural sculptures. We sketched natural materials and went out in to the lower forest school to collect materials to make a sculpture on the playground.

In Geography we have continued learning about the seaside by finding out how cliffs, caves, arches and stacks are made. We had a lovely afternoon making models of a coastline to show these features. Thanks to the parents who came in to help us with this.

We had an amazing day celebrating the Royal Wedding and in English we wrote a recount of our fantastic day.
