October 2016 in Year 3

In year Three we’ve been learning about different leaves and trees in Science. We’ve been exploring our forest school and taking a samples of different leaves to research in the classroom. We used non-fiction books on seasons and trees from our library and the internet to help us find out more about our findings. Here are some interesting facts some children found:

In Maths Year three have been focusing on fractions. We firstly looked at fractions of shapes and designed our own pizzas. We then had to investigate what fractions of ingredients were on our pizzas. Once we had done that we swapped slices with people on our tables to create our own investigations. Now we’re moving on to fractions of amounts and equivalent fractions.
