April 2017 in Year 3

In April we’ve had a literacy focus on the Lion King.

This inspired us to create silhouette paintings. The idea was that we would create a safari painting as the sun was setting to match our descriptive paragraphs. The results were

magnificent and we had some messy fun along the way!

In maths we’ve been using lots of practical activities to learn about equivalent fractions. We’ve been drawing diagrams,

creating rainbow charts, linking fractions to timetables, and

using fraction pizzas to create our own investigations.

In PE we’ve been practising athletic events to prepare us for

district sports and sports day. So far this term we’ve done the long jump, 50m sprint and the Javelin throw!
