In PSHE, we have been thinking about our goals and dreams and how to take small steps to achieve them. For example, we thought about how to make a jam sandwich and which order to do each step. We also worked with a partner to mirror what each other were doing, physically, then on paper, designing a wellington boot together, for a garden of hopes and dreams. We also challenged ourselves to follow instructions to make a ‘stretchy’ flower.
In English, we have been finding out about how to persuade others to get a certain items, like a toy or even a special cup cake. We wrote out persuasive words to make a poster about how wonderful our cupcakes were, so others could not resist buying them!
In Maths, we have been doing measures so have been using balance scales to find the mass of different objects to see which ones are heavier or lighter than each other or the same weight. We made more accurate mass in grams, using the weights. Then we measured them on scales with round dials.
In Computing, we are using a programme on the Ipad to control the movements of a Beebot. We have to put in the directions and turns for it to take to get to a certain place on the grid. We have been beginning to learn about algorithms and how important it is to make sure the different instructions are done in order so we tried this out by making a Mr Potato head and made sure all his parts were in correct place!
In History we have been learning about the life of Beatrix Potter and made a time line to sequence the events of her life.
In Music we listened to music from West Africa and tried to identify what was being played. Then we sorted West African and UK instruments. We are looking forward to playing some African drums soon.
