January 2022 in Year 4

We have had a great start to 2022. In PSHE, we have been thinking about our dreams, goals and different challenges people face.

In English, we learnt useful dictionary skills and enjoyed looking at the genre of mystery and suspense, reading the story of Leon and The Place Between.

We started the term in Maths looking at perimeter and shapes. We investigated parallel and perpendicular lines, angles and lines of symmetry.

We have enjoyed weekly swimming lessons and playing Handball.

As part of our History topic, we have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons and how they have influenced our language and place names. We looked at a map of England and found the seven counties that England was divided into in Anglo-Saxon times. We have been thinking like Historians, looking at artefacts and what they can tell us about the Anglo-Saxons. For homework, we created our own timelines.

Science has been exciting this term as we are learning about Electricity, both how it is produced and electrical safety. We are looking forward to making our own circuits.
