January 2023 in Year 6

It’s January and we are back with a bang! Our first English topic was entering into the annual Rotary club essay competition which meant an essay of 300 words about what we want to be when we are older and why. Our essays were researched over Christmas, written and edited in class and then published; look out for them on display in our room and also in our school display by the office. The standard is very high and we are very proud!

Our next topic has been Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo; we have covered lots of different types of writing during our enjoyment of this novel and will shortly be translating it into a textile piece after half term. Before this, we have looked carefully at another textile piece which shows a story: the Bayeaux tapestry and had a go at recreating a section of our own.

Finally, January is always a good time to set goals and this is exactly what we have done in PSHE. We have considered a goal both within and out of school and identified the steps needed to succeed.

What a great start to 2023 it’s been!
