March 2021 in Year 6

How lovely it has been to be back together! We kicked off our first week with Science Week, where we really enjoyed the challenge Miss Peffers set us to create an insect. Well done to Holly and Daisy for being the class winners! We also took the opportunity this week to research significant females in STEM subjects; we produced great fact files and posters on who we had chosen and are very proud of our work.

Wellbeing has also been a key area for us this term: we began by completing a ’lockdown bingos’ activity where we spoke to each other to share our experienced and tried to find different people to complete our bingo sheet. We have also worked together to complete a big version of our class novel for this term, ‘Rooftoppers’ and completed an activity to remind us to ‘put our worries in the bin’!

Although we couldn’t complete our usual large textiles project based on Kensuke’s Kingdom, we enjoyed completing batik based on ideas from the book and also practised some sewing to ensure we didn’t get too rusty!

Finally, we have completed our entries into the annual essay competition run by the Rotary Club; we are looking forward to hearing who has gone forward to the next round next term.

We wish you all a lovely break.
