March 2023 in Year 5/6

March always starts with World Book Day – and this March was a great start. We heard passages from three classic animal stories, read with our buddy class, bought books at a book sale, made a book in a box and imagined we had met celebrity book characters. In PE, we have been working on strength, balance and stamina during our fitness unit – We absolutely love planks and press-ups (well most of us do!). Geography this month is all about rivers & water. Our favourite lesson involved looking up rivers in the atlas; we are also looking forward to our trip to Hartham for a river study. We had the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hertford join us for an assembly. During Science Week, we did lots of extra science related activities. Highlights was the talk from Dr Maggie Adiern-Pocock, identifying leaves and exploring finger prints.
