May 2022 in Year 6

What another busy month! The main focus of this month has been the Key Stage 2 Assessments (SATs) but we haven’t just been enjoying breakfast and taking papers!
In Science, our topic is materials and their properties; we have tested a range of different materials for their properties, considered why designers choose certain materials for their products and conducted a lot of investigations.
Outside the classroom, we have been really busy with the first House Fun run which the House Captains led really successfully and we all enjoyed earning points for our team.
Another highlight has been the Jubilee celebrations. We revised introducing ourselves and describing our families in German and looked at the Royal Family’s tree to describe their family, making mini-people out of this. This led to a great day of crafts and performance on Friday where we enjoyed singing ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis at the school concert on the field, as well as ‘Rise Up and Serve’ and the national anthem. What a lovely way to finish the half term!
Finally, an exciting event to finish the month was the final of the Rotary Club Essay Awards; congratulations to Katie who won best in school and everyone who took part – the standard was very high!
We are now looking forward to our trip to Norfolk and of course, our upcoming play!
