October 2022 in Year 6

What a busy month it has been! A highlight has certainly been the return of our Harvest celebration. We collected and sorted food, categorised it for the food bank, prepared an afternoon tea and decorated the hall. We also enjoyed performing our song ‘Live a Little (Harvest Style) for our audience and a great afternoon was had by all.

Back in class, in Maths, we have been working on lots of different techniques for problem solving; one of them is working backwards and we were proud to share two of these completed problems in assembly with the rest of the school in a Maths Sharing Assembly.

Additionally, to finish our Science topic on space, we researched our own favourite planet and created a factfile. We are really proud of our work.

We have also celebrated National Poetry Day; the theme this was the following:

Our call to action this year is for audiences to find or write a poem that speaks about something you’d like to change or praise about the environment and share that in your school, community.

We read and shared different poems from the NPD website then wrote our own which we have proudly displayed in class.
