Safeguarding

Wheatcroft Primary School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all children. We expect all staff, volunteers, and members of the school community to uphold and share this commitment.

The governing body has a responsibility to ensure that an appropriate senior member of staff is appointed to the role of designated safeguarding lead (DSL). The DSL and their deputies will always be available (during school hours) to discuss any safeguarding concerns. At Wheatcroft, the safeguarding team consists of the following people:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Mrs D Miller (Headteacher)

Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Mrs P Koniotes (Deputy Headteacher)

Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Mrs D Tuck (SenCo)

Safeguarding Governor

Mr L Brown

If you have any concerns about a child’s welfare, please ask to speak to the DSL or their deputies. They can be contacted by telephoning the main school number: 01992 587899 or email: admin@wheatcroft.herts.sch.uk

Operation Encompass

Wheatcroft is part of Operation Encompass, a police and education partnership that provides early safeguarding information, enabling schools to offer immediate support to children affected by domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass ensures that, following any incident of domestic abuse attended by the police, a simple notification is made to the school's trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or their deputy (DDSL) before the start of the next school day. This information sharing allows the school to provide timely and appropriate support to children involved, based on their needs and wishes.
