It has been a lovely start to the school year in Year 3! We have been reconnecting with friends and getting to know our new classmates throughout September. We have worked hard on settling in to the new routines of Key Stage 2 and have done so brilliantly!
In English, we have used exciting video prompts about a variety of wildlife to help us write and punctuate sentences. We have also read and rewritten the traditional tale of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, using fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases to add excitement to our writing.
In Maths, we have looked at different ways of representing, comparing and ordering numbers. We have also practised a range of strategies to help us solve addition and subtraction problems. It has been amazing to see the class working together and helping each other with their learning!
In History, we have begun the exciting topic of ancient Egypt. This has involved looking at ancient Egyptian artefacts and learning about why the river Nile was so important to people.
The class have thoroughly enjoyed practising their basketball skills in PE.
As well as this, they have loved singing and playing the glockenspiel in our Music lessons.
In Art, we have been learning about famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Georgia O’Keeffe and Salvador Dali. We have created lots of fantastic artwork inspired by these great artists!
