November 2019 in Year 2

We have been learning about castles and this month we got the chance to visit Hertford Castle. We got to see where the town council hold meetings as well as the special clothes the Mayor wears. We also learnt that a long time ago Henry VIII build a tower in the ground, you can still see the remains of the red brick wall. We also had fun exploring the dungeon, seeing the courthouse and exploring the remains of the curtain wall outside.

In History we have been learning about our local area and look at some of the landmarks you can find in Hertford. In Science we have been looking at material and carried out an experiment to see which materials would dissolve in water.

In English we have been learning how to use possessive apostrophes through the story ‘The Troll’ by Julia Donaldson.

In Maths we have been using our number bond to 10 knowledge to help use solve practical problems. We know now our number bonds to 100.
