October 2019 in Year 5/6

This month in English we have been reading and writing instruction texts. We enjoyed writing our own potion recipes inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine. In Maths we have been continuing to develop our understanding of multiplication and division. We have been exploring different mental strategies and deciding on the most efficient method to solve calculations. We have also been investigating factors, primes and multiples and drew factor bugs to consolidate our knowledge. In Science we have been learning about Darwin’s theory of evolution. We enjoyed experimenting with different shape beaks to see which beak was the best to pick up raisins. Near the end of the month, we had Well-Being Day. We did some mindfulness colouring, had some construction time and learnt how to play some new board games.
