September 2020 in Year 5/6

5/6 have made a fantastic start to the school year. We have been working very hard and enjoying getting used to the new routines.

We began the year in English by reading ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. We enjoyed predicting what might be drawn next and wrote super stories on the next adventure!

In Maths we have been focusing on place value in numbers up to 10 million. Comparing and ordering large numbers and decimals. We have also been applying our knowledge of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 to measures.

We have been enjoying Art; creating self-portraits with things that represent us and creating movement through pictures. In PE we have been practising our Hockey skills and playing mini games. In History and Science we have been learning about space and have written some brilliant newspaper reports on the first man on the moon.
